Who would have thought I’d be rewarded for reading Sword and Sorcery #0? Mikel Janin has never turned in a bad issue of Justice League Dark and he continues his impressive streak here. If you don’t know everything then he catches you up to speed, but if you’re familiar with the characters and what has happened in their books, then he rewards you with subtle references for being a dedicated reader. People often get irritated if they have to read extra titles in order to understand the book currently in their hands, but Lemire strikes a wonderful balance. While introducing extra characters in the final chapter of an arc would normally weigh down a story and detract from the main cast, Lemire makes it work flawlessly thanks to his clever dialogue and of course the generous page count. With a cast already approaching double digits, Lemire packs in three extra characters to join in an all-out brawl between the two opposing magical forces. ![]()
